Wild Rose News & Offers

Spring News & Special Offers

The Ox-eye daisies are just opening and the voles just ate all my kale seedlings! Thora painstakingly transferred her tiny frogs from their tadpole tank into the pond -it’s defintely Spring, everything is growing. A bit of sunshine is just what we all needed.

Our sheep have all lambed, although, this year one of my ewes had triplets, a tiny little third lamb came out and against all the odds she has managed to survive. She is now being bottle fed on Phyllis the goats milk and thriving, the trouble is she is not sure what she is..but she defintely doesn’t think she is a sheep.

We have just finished laying the floor of our house and the final part of our roof is going on next week (as long as the tin arrives in time)..so the house is moving on…

We just finished a very successful Fleece to Needle Felt week, on which Fi Oberon (a well renowned needle felter) tutored for the last few days.

It was great fun and we hope to do more work around land art with Fi next year.

Our next big event is the Royal Highland Show, where Ele and I will be working along side Galgael in the rural skills tent, turning it into a croft house for the 4 days of the show.. we will be bannock making, natural dyeing, spinning on drop spindles, and singing a few tweed working (waulking) songs. Come and find us if you visit the show this year.

June’s special offer…£50 off our longer craft courses and retreats!

We have a couple longer courses and retreats coming up this summer with a few spaces on, including our new 5 day natural dyeing and spinning course (August 14th-19th). We are providing accommodation and all meals and participants get to spend 2 days learning to naturally dye in the woods and then 2 days of expert spinning tuition from Bridie.

We also have a few spaces left on our Retreat (Sept 30th-Oct 7th) which includes craft, gentle walking and optional yoga with Joanie. Combining all that we love to create a relaxing week..natural dyeing, felting, eco-printing, walking in Glen Affric and Plodda waterfalls and beautiful accommodation at the Old Stables.

We are also running our usual weekend courses in Felting, Natural Dyeing and Eco-printing. However, you can also join us for two days of spinning this year if you want to tag on the end of our 5 day course.

Follow us on Facebook and keep up to date.
