Spring courses

It has been a while… Things have been very busy here this Spring. We have had our relaxation retreat, the Highland wool festival and weekend courses. Alex is also back building the house. The shed and garage are now up and the foundations in. Next we have to harvest more trees to finish off the milling for the cladding.

Our May relaxation retreat was a joy to run, a great group. We managed lots of walking, morning yoga, Ele and Craig played traditional music and many needle felted creations were formed.

Last weekend we were part of the Highland Wool Featival, making a huge felted banner with adults and children at the festival. It was a wonderful day, with lots of enthusiastic wool lovers and lots of chat and beautiful things to see.

We have just finished running a natural dyeing course this weekend. We picked dye plants in the woods including; bracken, gorse, broom, horseshoe fungus, lichen and more…making stunning colours outdoors over the fire.  We dyed Shetland wool, cotton and silk. We made eight dyes and from that twenty-five beautiful shades.
