Fleece to Felt Weeks

It really was everything I hoped, and much more. My room was really nice and slept very well. Rosie is excellent cook, got new ideas also on that area. Course itself is well planned, each day has something unique to offer. You really see and learn about the whole process of felting and dyeing. Recommend highly and the area has amazing nature and views. Marika (Finland) –

This course exceeded expectations. The instruction and felting was well planned, with a good amount of learning and work with a nice amount of breaks. The setting is breathtaking so hiking and walking were superb. The food was fantastic! Rosie was a wonderful host who was super responsive to requests and suggestions. And she was knowledgeable about the subject and the area, so I learned a great deal. I would return. Lynn Booth –

Came from across the pond for the express purpose of taking the May week-long session in dyeing and needle felting and I was not disappointed. Instruction was excellent, as was the accommodation and the wonderfully delicious and nutritious meals. Even the bread was homemade. Week was packed full of activities without being in any way rushed. Very much enjoyed the opportunity to get away from the big city and savour country life. We even went for a day long hike in the ancient pinewoods in Glen Affric.
Kudos to Rosie for making this week a holiday to remember!  K. Imrie – (Canada)

“I loved the whole week and all the activities involved. I had very little expectation or knowledge about fleece or felting but learnt an enormous amount and came away loving the felt piece I created. The highlands are conducive to creativity!” Nisha G.

Dye to Spin Weeks

What a fantastic week we had on the dye to spin course with the amazing Rosie. Great company, great surroundings as well as learning new skills
The week was made by Rosie. She is really an exceptionally gifted facilitator who worked so well with the group and made it fun…even the hard bits
It is the fourth course I have done with her ….fortunately I am not a gifted crafter and so no doubt will come back again to sample the special magic that Rosie weaves!! Hazel Mackenzie –

I enjoyed every minute of this course. Each day was beautifully balanced between hands-on learning activities and leisure time to walk the stunning landscape, knit, read or just enjoy the company of others on the course. It had something for everyone of all levels and Rosie was an extremely patient, accommodating teacher. It was wonderful to look back at the end of the week on all that we had accomplished and covered in such a short time. It was very hard to leave! Anne Fernweh (USA)-

Highly recommended whether you are a beginner in fibre crafts or already experienced. All the activities were well organised and fascinating, with brilliant end products for the participants to share. Most importantly, Rosie organised it really well and took everyone’s needs into consideration – nothing was too much trouble for her. Accommodation in the Old Stables was excellent and very comfortable. Rosie worked hard all day and all evening, not just organising the activities, but also cooking wonderful wholesome, mainly organic meals, including home-made bread every day. Ros –

This was an awesome natural wool retreat! From the foraging for plants to use for dyes, to dyeing over fires, to Eco printing on silk, to spinning, it was the most fun fiber learning experience ever. Everything was accomplished at a seamless and easy pace. The accommodations in the refurbished “Old Stables” (in the rural pastoral countryside) were comfortable, spacious, and homelike. It was next to a bird sanctuary and offered lots of places to walk. The accommodations provided for both privacy and a place for the group to visit, eat meals, and get to know each other. The meals were delicious and nutritious. Loved the day of hiking in Glen Affric too. Rosie is an amazing facilitator, instructor, and cook who pulls everything together with ease!

I had a marvellous time. The food was very good and plentiful. The accommodation enchanting and I’d love to go back to that house, whether with you or just for other fun.

It was wonderful spending so much time out of doors… Somehow, standing about on your hillside I felt we might achieve anything.

The Craft Retreat

I would highly recommend the craft retreats Rosie runs. All aspects of the course we’re really well done and excellently organised.
It was a really good mix of different activities but also time left to relax.
The craft tution and materials were great. Cooking delicious.
The yoga and relaxation sessions with Joanie were also really enjoyable. Kate Hutchinson

Rosie worked really hard to provide an excellent week of crafts and walking. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the holiday from collecting plant materials to use in the dyeing and felting workshops to walking in the beautiful countryside.
Rosie also cooked really lovely food every day.
It was a fantastic experience shared with like minded people. Also enjoyed the yoga and relaxation sessions with Joanie and the singing with Ele. Linda Whiter

This was an amazing retreat. Rosie put together a perfect blend of all the things I love – eco textile crafts, hiking in the glorious Scottish countryside, yoga and learning some of the history of the crafts and area. The accommodation was lovely, very quiet and comfortable. The food was delicious and mostly local. There were opportunities to do our own thing if we wanted and there was no pressure to join in or achieve a particular outcome (lots of freeform crafting happened). Rosie is very knowledgeable about the environment and her craft and generous in sharing with us. The retreat was a real highlight of my trip to Scotland (from Australia) and I would definitely do it again if I am in the area!! Deb (Australia)

I had the most fantastic week, learning new skills, exploring the surrounding beautiful area, meeting lovely people and living in a nice house with great fresh local food
Rosie made this all possible with her hard work and lots of energy. I would love to return some day. Susan McPhee

Craft Weekends (Natural Dyeing, Eco-printing & Felting).

Excellent weekend workshop! Friendly, great fun and I got to learn lots of new techniques. Great food too!

Fabulous 2 days. Rosie is very knowledgeable and a great communicator. We spent time outdoors, identified and foraged for plants to use in the natural dyeing process. It was great to find out what plants are easily available and which parts of the plants impart the best colour. Rosie packed a lot in but never overwhelmed. We were even given a chance to try some eco printing-fab. By the end of the two days we had an eco printed bag filled with colourful samples of the fleece From our dye pots, a notebook to identify each sample and the dye process and printed instructions to follow when home. Unlike some courses the 2 days were uplifting rather than exhausting.
Lovely lunch, ideal setting, perfectly organised from start to finish. Definitely recommend. Flora –

This was a thoroughly inspiring and enjoyable course. Rosie is a superb teacher and I gained the confidence to start natural dyeing myself. The lunches were excellent and the environment beautiful. I will definitely return for other courses in this little piece of fibre-y heaven! Susie

Had an excellent weekend at the natural dyeing course, the location is fantastic. Rosie is a great teacher and had a great time collecting plants in her local woods, we fit so much in over the 2 days I would have loved to stay longer. It has given me a great base for starting to experiment with colours. Would definitely recommend and will be back

This two day wet felting course was outstanding, informative and great fun in a wonderful setting. Rosie is an excellent and welcoming teacher who is very encouraging and supportive in learning new skills. I would highly recommend this and will be back for other courses soon! Lynn O’Neill

This is the second felting course I have done with the instructor Rosie and both have been amazing. The location is beautiful, the food provided is delicious and home-made and the teaching is superb. Rosie is very enthusiastic about felting and the natural processes (foraging for natural colours to dye the fleece) involved in the practice. Rosie made me feel relaxed and was very encouraging while I made my artwork. I came away feeling happy with my work, was given ideas about how to develop it further and felt confident I could continue wet-felting at home.

“All in all, the week was unbelievably rich in experiences, so much variation and so much learning. It was a great pleasure to be here and I don’t just mean the pleasure of enjoying activities, I mean the pleasure of experiencing your existence and interaction with nature. This week really made my life richer and I want to take this experience with me and transfer it into my everyday life”.
